CLASSES & REFERRALS

Basic Training

"PUPPY LOVE" - Socialization & Learning to Learn (for puppies that are 8 weeks to 6 months):   This class will teach valuable tools while using the valuable the imprinting stage to enhance you and your dog's experience with learning, communication, and socialization.   Introduction to basic skills (e.g. walking with leash, the sit, down, stay, come, as well as socializaiton, & manners).  For more information, please contact: Kathy Kikuyama  (916) 939-7415 or Email: kikuyamaK@aol.com   Six - 1 hour sessions.  Check with Instructor for space availability & times.


FAMILY DOGS/Beyond Basic Pet Training - (for dogs that 7 months or older.  Dogs and handlers will work to improve already learned basic skills.  An important foundation for those interested in the posibility of a Canine Good Citizenship Certification and a REQUIREMENT for those interested in Dog Sports.  For further information, please contact the instructor:  Kathy Kikuyama  (916) 939-7415 or Email: kikuyamaK@aol.com   FOUR -1 hour weekly sessions per month.  Check with Instructor for space availability & times.



Obedience Sport & Competition


INTRODUCTION to RALLY/Obedience Rally Obedience is a relatively new sport in which the dog and handler complete a course of designated stations (10 – 20, depending on the level).  Each of these stations has a sign providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed.  This class is for those with no rally obedience experience and will focus on teaching a variety of skills to include sign interpretation and execution, motivation, timing and footwork using mini courses and patterns.     Dogs must not have aggressive tendencies to other handlers or dogs.  Handlers must have good control of their dogs at all times.  Class size limited to six dogsCheck with Instructor for space availability & times.  Amie Lambert (916) 784-3209 info@placerdog.com

RALLY O Coursework   
An excellent, fun way to train beyond the basics as you improve teamwork, bonding, and overall attention and performance with your dog.

HEELING AND COMPETITION READINESS: 
This class is designed as a competition readiness class for those pursuing a greater level of attention with their dogs.   It is open to all levels of dogs/handlers in obedience  (from beginning to advanced).  Skills shall include motivation, attention, rewards, heel position, proofing. BEGINNING/SUB NOVICE OBEDIENCE This novice level class shall work on important handling skills in order to be respectably prepped for the traditional novice obedience and rally obedience sport classes.  Exercises taught will include dog and handler skills necessary for focus, attention, footwork required for the ring e.g. Heel on and off leash, figure 8, stand for exam, and recall in addition to achieving a  solid sit for 1 minute and down for 3 minutes at the Sub Novice level (on leash).     4 - 1 hr weekly sessions. ADVANCED & GRAD NOVICE COMPETITION OBEDIENCE An advanced Novice Class that further refines dog/handler skills in preparation for the Obedience competition ring.     We shall address the heel on and off leash, the figure 8, stand for exam, the recall, and the long sit and down exercises  using AKC , UKC and Rally Obedience skill requirements.  Introduction to Open and Utility exercises are also included to help make a smoother transition to the more advanced levels in the sport .   4 - 1 hr weekly sessions.  Check with Instructor for space availability & times.  For more information contact the instructor  directly.    Amie Lambert  (916) 784-3209 info@placerdog.com

OPEN & UTILITY COMPETITION OBEDIENCE:  Open level skills (all off leash work with heeling, figure 8, drop on recall, retrieve on flat, retrieve over the high jump, and the broad jump exercises in addition to the 3 minute sit and the 5 minute down exercises (handler out of sight).  Utility level skills (all off leash) to include the signal exercise, blind retrieves (articles), directed retrieve (gloves), the moving stand, and the directed jumps.   Location:   Granite Bay   Check with Instructor for space availability & times.For more information; contact Janet McClendon (916) 721-5922 email:  ziggzmom@yahoo.com, or Arlene McCoin @ (916) 988-1541 email: arlenemccoin@aol.com.


Agility


O-GILITY - (Pre-Requisite:) Click here for class description
Location:   Granite Bay  Check with Instructor for space availability & times.  Duration:  four weekly, 50 minute  sessions.  Pre-Requisite:  An introduction to the skills and equipment used in the fun sport of agility.  All dogs must be obedience trained through the basics with a reliable come, sit, down, & stay command and must not have ANY aggressive or shyness tendencies towards humans or other dogs.  All dogs will be worked primarily on leash while we work to achieve confidence and reliability off leash.
