Obedience Sports & Competition
An excellent, fun way to train beyond the basics as you improve teamwork, bonding, and overall attention and performance with your dog.
- This class is for those who are already familiar with interpretation of all the novice level signs and are ready for coursework in preparation for trialing in Rally. Virtual handling will be used to help improve the handler's footwork, body language. Pre-requisite is for the dog and handler to be be able to work at the beginning novice competition obedience level or approval by the Rally Instructor. Dogs must not have aggressive tendencies to other handlers or dogs. Handlers must have good control of their dogs at all times.

This class is designed as a competition readiness class for those pursuing a greater level of attention with their dogs. It is open to all levels of dogs/handlers in obedience (from beginning to advanced). Skills shall include motivation, attention, rewards, heel position, proofing. SUB-NOVICE OBEDIENCE This class is for dogs/handlers with little to no obedience competition experience and will focus on teaching a variety of skills to work motivation, attention, footwork, and handling. Rally exercises will be incorported into this class. Dogs must not have aggressive tendencies to other handlers or dogs. Handlers must have good control of their dogs at all times. NOVICE COMPETITION OBEDIENCE This novice level class is for those who have good focus and attention with their dogs. We shall cover of the AKC rules of obedience competition and shall work on important handling skills in order to be respectably prepped for the traditional novice obedience and rally obedience sport classes. Exercises taught will include dog and handler skills necessary for focus, attention, footwork required for the ring e.g. Heel on and off leash, figure 8, stand for exam, and recall in addition to achieving a solid sit for 1 minute and down for 3 minutes at the Sub Novice level (on leash). GRAD NOVICE THRU UTILITY COMPETITION OBEDIENCE An advanced Novice Class that further refines dog/handler skills in preparation for the Obedience competition ring. We shall address the heel on and off leash, the figure 8, stand for exam, the recall, and the long sit and down exercises using AKC , UKC and Rally Obedience skill requirements. Introduction to Open and Utility exercises are also included to help make a smoother transition to the more advanced levels in the sport . OPEN & UTILITY COMPETITION OBEDIENCE: Open level skills (all off leash work with heeling, figure 8, drop on recall, retrieve on flat, retrieve over the high jump, and the broad jump exercises in addition to the 3 minute sit and the 5 minute down exercises (handler out of sight). Utility level skills (all off leash) to include the signal exercise, blind retrieves (articles), directed retrieve (gloves), the moving stand, and the directed jumps. Agility
O-GILITY Pre-requisite - Evaluation of dog and handler skills via private lesson is required.
An introduction to the skills and equipment used in the fun sport of agility. All dogs must be obedience trained through the basics with a reliable come, sit, down, & stay command and must not have ANY aggressive or questionable behavior tendencies towards humans or other dogs. All dogs will be worked primarily on leash while we work to achieve confidence and reliability off leash. AGILITY DRILLS AND SKILL SETS for COMPETITION Pre Requisite: With consent of class instructor only. A great opportunity to strengthen your timing and techniques while you work on a variety of skill sets, drills, and courses. Dogs must be competitent on all pieces of full height equipment and competing or getting ready to compete. Handlers MUST have a reliable recall on the dog. Limited class size.
